| SITE UNAVAILABILITY REPORT | ||
| We apologise for the unavailability of this site over the last few days.
We were first aware of a problem in the early hours of Saturday (29th) morning
but we have since discovered that the fault may have occured some time on
Friday. At the time of writing we have been unable to obtain a report of
the cause of the fault but the results of the diagnostics we ran looked
similar to those of a major communications circuit outage at Zynet last
June. When we have more details we will update this report.*
We were able to get an emergency mirror site operational late Saturday afternoon and informed all our LincsPPNUpdate subscribers of its location. There are a number of reasons why our current options for maintaining a mirror site do not lend themselves to making it a permanent facility. However, we will keep the emergency mirror site operational for the time being with the proviso that the content will probably lag behind that of the primary site at the Zynet address. That is why we advise that the mirror site should only be used in the event of problems accessing the primary site and why we are only releasing the address to our LincsPPNUpdate subscribers whom we can easily contact. *A major BT trunk circuit in Bristol failed. Zynet installed a temporary ISDN link which began operation in the early hours of Sunday morning although the much reduced bandwidth would have been noticable in response times. BT restored the failed circuit back into service on Monday morning. |
