The Post-Polio Syndrome Central Web Page

alt.support.post-polio newsgroup posting
19th November 1997

The Post-Polio Syndrome Central Web Page has undergone and is undergoing some changes.

First: The group that maintains the PPS Central is finding the updating and maintenance chores more than we can handle right now so we are asking anyone interested in taking the site over to please contact us. The url can remain as it is, or the page can be moved. All we ask is that the basic structure of the page not be changed, that they always be disabled accessible and that there be no form of abuse, spamming or otherwise, to the visitors to the page.

Update - The page is now under new ownership and has moved.

Anyone interested in owning the Post-Polio Syndrome Central page please contact us at pps@geocities.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible with an answer. Please, do not reply here to alt.support.post-polio.

Second: It has come to our attention via complaints from visitors to our page that two PPS related web sites are harvesting email addresses from unwitting visitors to their web sites and/or from PPS related email lists, then using these email addresses to send spam emails promoting their pages, soliciting donations and/or advertising for profit.

We find this abuse of polio survivors, their friends and family so objectionable that we have made the links on PPS Central to these pages dead with reasons why. The information that could be found on those web pages are available through many other post-polio syndrome related web pages that do not abuse your visits, so we are not denying anyone information by doing this.

We hope that other pps related web page owners will follow suit in this quiet protest if the intolerable practice of spamming email addresses reaped from visits to their web pages and from pps related email lists.

Sincerely,

Rev. David Avery, averyd@usa.net
