Polio-Life Mailing List
General information and Charter

Subscription/unsubscription/info requests should always be sent to: polio-life-request@eskimo.com.

To subscribe, simply send a message with the word "subscribe" in the Subject: field to the polio-life-request@eskimo.com address.

To unsubscribe, simply send a message with the word (you guessed it :-) "unsubscribe" in the Subject: field to the same address.

In the event of an address change, it would probably be the wisest to first send an unsubscribe for the old address (this can be done from the new address), and then a new subscribe to the new address (the order is important).

Most (un)subscription requests are processed automatically without human intervention.

Do not send multiple (un)subscription or info requests in one mail. Only one will be processed per mail.

NOTE: The -request server usually does quite a good job in discriminating between (un)subscribe requests and messages intended for the maintainer. If you'd like to make sure a human reads your message, make it look like a reply (i.e. the first word in the Subject: field should be "Re:", without the quotes of course); the -request server does not react to replies.

Polio-Life Charter

This is an unmoderated, user maintained list dedicated to exploring the full range of ideas and activities of persons who have survived polio. The focus is intended to be on polio survivors as complete individuals with varied lifestyles, experiences and beliefs who belong to the broad disability community.

The model for the list is not a support group but rather a forum where people with a common experience or interest in polio can share experiences and insights. Topics might include but are not limited to medical issues, as well as the recreational, intellectual, social, political, disability rights and advocacy, and literary interests of the list members.

Frank and open debate is encouraged and list subscribers are strongly encouraged to take personal responsibility for deleting or bypassing posts they find objectionable.

This list is not intended as a substitute for or supplement to personal email. Messages to individuals such as greetings and compliments and "me toos", and personal conversations should not be addressed to the list.

Unsolicited advertising, promotion of commercial services and posting of binary files are not appropriate uses of this list.

For additional help send an e-mail to Tom Dempsey dempt@eskimo.com.
